I've been quite busy over the weekend and cooked up a little penguin to give to a friend (she likes penguins)

Mother's Day

I thought I'd put my sewing skills to use and made a little cosmetic bag for Mother's Day. I put a gift card inside too - so there would be at least one good present ;-)

Piped cushion

So this is a more recent creation but I'm going to post it as I don't have photos to hand of the other couple of things I've made since the mouse! We moved house in February from our 1 bed flat in Clapton to our lovely (but needing a lot of work!) 2 bed house in Leigh on Sea so everything is still in chaos..

I felt like brightening up our living room so decided to try my hand at some soft furnishings. With a lot of help from youtube and some tips from the local fabric shop I made this. The main fabric is from Alexander Henry which I love  http://www.ahfabrics.com/

Getting started

I started sewing in December and have since got a bit hooked! I think I was wanting a distraction so paid a visit to my then local haberdashery in Stoke Newington, and got kitted up with thread, material and a book - Plush pals. My first attempt was this mouse which I hand stitched and did take a little while to complete! :-/

He does have a tail which you can't see, and also the stitching around his face, ears and tummy is in blue which is also not very visible. Better pictures not taken with an iphone will follow!
